Version 1 of Memory Screen Saver Plus was a Windows-only release: multi-monitor slideshow, Live Presentation Mode, 29 transitions, and a stubborn focus on local folders. Version 2 keeps that promise and rebuilds the app for Windows 10+ and macOS 12+ from a single modern codebase.
Highlights
- Windows and Mac — Apple Silicon and Intel archives; Windows x64 self-contained installer.
- Soft Effects — Ken Burns zoom/pan plus eight collage overlays (Polaroid, scattered prints, contact sheet, film strip, soft mosaic, scattered stack, imbricated photo pile, binary partition).
- Self-contained packages — runtime and video engine bundled; no separate .NET Framework or media-player install.
- Calmer screensaver navigation — keys, wheel, and on-screen arrows; exit only via Escape or the right-click menu.
- Presentation upgrades — optional borderless frames and close-this-frame from the context menu.
- Same privacy model — local folders only; optional update checks are the only network use.
What stayed the same
Multi-monitor playback, Live Presentation Mode, 29 transition effects, large local archives, resilient skipping of corrupt or cloud-only files, filename overlays, and a free, unlimited product with no ads or subscription.
Platform notes
On Windows, the app still installs as a classic screensaver you pick in Screen Saver settings. On macOS, idle slideshow is driven by a login-item agent in this release — a native System Settings .saver bridge is planned later. Presentation Mode works on both platforms without locking your session.
For video on Apple Silicon, prefer the Intel Mac archive via Rosetta until a native arm64 video build ships — the Apple Silicon archive is great for photos and Soft Effects today. See the Mac install guide.
Signing status: Both Windows and Mac builds are tested on real machines, but they are not code-signed yet (no Microsoft Authenticode / Apple notarization). Expect SmartScreen or Gatekeeper prompts. Details in the FAQ.
